Our communities | Conexu Foundation

Conexu works to help four broad community groups who are defined by their needs and communication preferences. These are communities of speech impaired, Deaf, hard of hearing and hearing people.

From the latest publicly available information, there are around:

  • 13,000 Australians who use electronic communication aids to send or receive messages.*
  • 15,000 Australians who are Deaf Auslan users**
  • 3.5 million Australians, or 1 in 6, who are hard of hearing***

The hard of hearing population in Australia is also predicted to reach nearly eight million people, or 26.7% of the population by 2050.***
