Located in Melbourne at the MCG, the National Sports Museum presents world-class exhibitions of significant sporting artefacts and stories. Located in the Olympic Stand, visitors enter the National Sports Museum via Gate 3, and immerse themselves in a range of exhibits and interactive technology featuring the story of Australian sport.
The National Sports Museum incorporates exhibitions on the subjects of the Olympics, the history of the world famous MCG and MCC, cricket, Australian football, thoroughbred racing, and a variety of exhibits and films on a wide range of sports played in Australia at a professional level. Game On! is the interactive technology gallery that is always popular with kids. There are also the Sport Australia Hall of Fame, the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame, the Australian Football Hall of Fame and others, as well as the temporary exhibition areas addressing the sporting issues and events of the day.
Each year, approximately 150,000 people visit the National Sports Museum and they listen to audio descriptions of the exhibitions. Now people who are hard of hearing or Deaf can experience these tours too, using Open Access Tours.
